HISTORY OF PROGRAM
DITO began working in India in 2016, with a pilot project in Thane district of Maharastra to help local slum dwellers to access safe drinking water. DITO, NL thus installed 3 water plants in different slum areas of Thane with a capacity to cater to about 2000 persons per day with an average consumption of 20 litres of water per person per day. Subsequently, DITO, India has addressed the acute requirement of safe drinking water at a micro level. To make sure that not a single person is devoid of this facility, DITO, India with the help of DITO, NL has planned to established water- on- wheels to penetrate into each and every household ensuring availability of safe drinking water.
Waterplant at Howrah
The water plant installed by DITO Foundation, The Netherlands and monitored by DITO Social Welfare Association at Tikiapara, Howrah, can rightly be defined as a need of the community, as more and more people, especially children fall victims of water born diseases. The DITO water plant has a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system installed with Ultra Violet ( UV) and Ultra Filtration ( UF) facility to provide WHO standard purified water to the community. The success of the programme can easily be measured by the outpouring number of people availing the service from the water plant.
