Last mile health care
Illness is universal, health care is not.
But we can create a world where health care is within the reach of everyone, everywhere.
The Last Mile Health Care provides affordable health care services within the reach of rural West Bengal. The gap in accessibility of quality health care services in remote areas reduces the health seeking behaviour of the population. The concept of Universal Health Care – as one of the important strategy of GOI, looses it’s meaning as there is no pluralistic health care agenda.
The Last Mile Health Care reaches out to the remotest corners of rural Bengal with it’s health care services, manned by qualified doctor, health care professionals, social workers and a mobile pharmacy having an array of about 200 kinds of generic medicines. The project currently runs at 9 locations of Howrah district. The organisation provides general medical consultation at INR 150 and free medicines for 15 days.
Till date the Last Mile Health Care has successufully reached out to more than 8000 patients, conducted more than 5400 Capillary Blood Glucose (CBG) tests.
COVID 19 Co- morbidity tests
As one of DITO Social Welfare Association’s ongoing project, the organisation has been instrumental in harnessing the power of technology to conduct screening tests for 5 vital factors- Haemoglobin, Creatinine, Blood- Glucose, Hypertension, Oxygen saturation through non invasive method. The technology has been provided by the incubation cell of Kalinga Institute of Technology. The organisation conducted this screening programme with vulnerable population and an awareness drive on COVID 19 is continuously conducted on regular basis.
