DITO's Mobile Health Camp: A Unique Approach

On this special day, DITO’s tableau van began its journey at Tollygunge Metro station, traveling through major Kolkata locations such as Rashbehari Avenue, Jatin Das Park, Ballygunge Phari, and Park Circus, finally concluding at Karaya Police Station area. The initiative was supported by one dedicated doctor and three professional social workers, who volunteered their time to conduct free blood sugar tests for pedestrians.

Reaching the Community

The tableau van was designed to attract attention, ensuring that people could easily spot it along its route. At each stop, individuals were encouraged to check their sugar levels, receive educational materials, and learn about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle to prevent diabetes. By offering free on-the-spot testing, DITO provided a valuable service, particularly for those who might not have easy access to healthcare facilities.

Impact of the Initiative

DITO’s efforts on World Diabetes Day 2024 had a meaningful impact, helping raise awareness about diabetes among hundreds of people in Kolkata. The 130+ individuals who availed the free sugar level testing were not only informed about their health status but also given advice on how to manage or prevent diabetes through lifestyle changes.

By taking the message directly to the streets, DITO Social Welfare Association demonstrated its commitment to community health and well-being, aligning with its mission of making healthcare accessible to all.
