LAST MILE HEALTH CARE

Illness is universal, health care is not. But We Can Creat A World Where Health Care Is Within The Reach Of Everyone.

DITO Health Checkup Camp

The Last Mile Health Care provides affordable healthcare services within the reach of rural West Bengal. The gap in accessibility of quality healthcare services in remote areas reduces the health-seeking behavior of the population. The concept of Universal Healthcare – as one of the important strategies of GOI, loses its meaning as there is no pluralistic healthcare agenda.

The Last Mile Health Care reaches out to the remotest corners of rural Bengal with its health care services, manned by qualified doctors, health care professionals, social workers and a mobile pharmacy having an array of about 200 kinds of generic medicines. The project currently runs at 9 locations in Howrah district. The organisation provides general medical consultation at INR 150 and free medicines for 15 days.

To date, The Last Mile Health Care has successfully reached out to more than 8000 patients, and conducted more than 5400 Capillary Blood Glucose (CBG) tests.

About DITO's health checkup camps

In the 2023-24 fiscal year, DITO significantly impacted community health, benefiting 3,641 individuals through 75 general health camps held monthly in Jangalpur and Shalimar. These camps offered screenings and treatments for various non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, and thyroid issues, along with general health complaints. Medications were provided at minimal costs to ensure healthcare accessibility for underprivileged individuals.

DITO organized two eye check-up camps in the Jangalpur RTT office, serving a total of 318 patients and providing essential services such as medicines and spectacles. Collaborations with the Hope Kolkata Foundation and other organizations reinforced the commitment to improving eye health for marginalized communities.

Additionally, DITO held five non-invasive anaemia detection camps, targeting marginalized women and schoolgirls to raise awareness about anaemia, particularly among those recently menstruating. The initiative aimed to enhance early detection and overall well-being.

To promote menstrual health and hygiene, DITO organized three awareness camps, educating women and schoolgirls on proper practices to foster confidence and prevent infections. Health awareness camps were also conducted, educating participants on maintaining good health and preventive measures.

Furthermore, two ECG test camps focused on heart health, benefiting 112 individuals and enhancing early detection of heart-related issues. Gynaecological health screening camps identified reproductive health conditions, improving treatment outcomes through early detection.

Lastly, DITO organized 65 capillary blood glucose testing camps, benefiting 596 individuals, empowering them to manage diabetes effectively. Through these diverse initiatives, DITO made significant strides in promoting health and well-being in the community.
